I am honoured to have gained my AFIAP distinction, which I can now use the letters (AFIAP) after my name. So, now at this moment in time I can use if I wish Baden Bowen CPAGB, AFIAP, BPE3.
What does AFIAP mean? Well the letters stand for Artiste de la Fédération Internationale de l'Art Photographique (Artist of the International Federation of Photographic Art) and by meeting certain criteria you can apply for the distinction.
AFIAP is the first run of the ladder on the FIAP trail there are another five levels with various criteria to be met. I have almost met the requirement for the next level (EFIAP) and hope to apply for this in March 2015.
Here is the criterion for AFIAP…
AFIAP (Artist FIAP)
Your first acceptance must be received at least 12 months before you can be awarded your AFIAP
certificate. In this period you are required to gain:-
a) At least 40 Acceptances with at least 15 different photographs.
b) This success must have come from at least 15 different salons with FIAP Patronage, and those salons must be spread over at least 8 different countries. A Circuit counts as a single salon.
c) At least 10% of the minimum number of the acceptances required (ie 4) must have been gained with PRINTS as opposed to PDI.
You will be required to submit a CD Portfolio of 5digital image files to FIAP. These must be of photographs that have each received at least 3acceptances from FIAP Patronised Salons.
